SHOEPACK originated out of a growing need within Crown Footwear for an integrated software solution to alleviate the demands of an ever-expanding manufacturing organisation. After comprehensive investigation into solutions available in the market Crown Footwear MD at the time, Mr. Bob Brown, commissioned a team of programmers to design a system that would be tailored to meet the specific requirements of the footwear industry as well as incorporating an integrated Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP) system. After a number of years of development, the system had evolved into a comprehensive software solution. As there was still no comparable solution available for the Industry, it was decided to introduce SHOEPACK into the market. The design of the system was revised to create a more comprehensive product that was not confined to the operating structure of Crown Footwear, but adaptable to varying organisational operations. SHOEPACK (Pty) Ltd was incorporated as an independent marketing and support company. Crown Footwear became a serviced client, together with a growing number of new site installations of SHOEPACK. Over the years many design changes and enhancements have been made to the system resulting in a wide scope of functionality within the package to service the needs of the changing market. In 2006 we launched our new windows product called SP2, which incorporates all the features included in our original product and many more, whilst using the latest technology available. Although each new client has their own unique approach to operations, the system has become extremely flexible to allow the client to continue operations with a minimum of adjustment. The source code is owned by SHOEPACK, with an experienced team of developers maintaining and enhancing it, making it possible to accommodate any specific tailoring requirements.   SP2 is no longer confined to the South African domestic market and is being marketed globally.
